Two ex-Premier League stars have slammed Sergio Aguero for the tackle on David Luiz which saw him sent off as Chelsea beat his Manchester City side 3-1.

In the fifth minute of added time, the Argentine dived in high, and with studs up, on his Brazilian opponent, leaving him stricken on the pitch.

Referee Anthony Taylor didn’t hesitate to send off the Man City striker, with the incident causing a big ruckus involving most of the 22 players on the pitch and resulting in Fernandinho also getting sent off after shoving Cesc Fabregas.

Former Arsenal stars Ray Parlour and Perry Groves discussed the incident on
Matchday Live and were stunned by the challenge from Aguero.

“That at the end of the game was awful to see and Sergio Aguero’s tackle, it’s horrendous. It’s one of the worst I’ve seen, probably for years,” said Parlour.

“He’s gone in late, studs up over David Luiz’s knee, at full pelt. He’s very lucky he’s able to get up because that was awful. It could have been two red cards, not one.

And his former team-mate added: “The Aguero tackle on David Luiz is not a tackle, it’s an assault. That is a career wrecker.”
