Seplat Energy Plc, a leading indigenous oil and gas exploration and production company, has announced the appointment of three distinguished professionals, Mr. Christopher John Okeke, Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma, and Mr. Babs Omotowa, as Independent Non-Executive Directors of the company.

The decision was made during a recent meeting of the company’s Board of Directors.

The newly appointed directors are set to bring a wealth of experience and expertise to the company. Mr. Okeke and Mr. Udoma will officially assume their roles on the Seplat Board from December 1, 2023, while Mr. Babs Omotowa is scheduled to join the Board on April 1, 2024.

This strategic move aligns with Seplat’s established Board Succession Strategy outlined in its 2022 Annual Report and Corporate Announcement dated April 25, 2023.

Mr. Christopher Okeke, a prominent Nigerian Corporate Commercial lawyer, diplomat, and agribusiness expert, has a notable track record in corporate governance.

With an LLM from Georgetown Law School, he co-founded the prestigious Nigerian commercial Law firm, Ajumogobia & Okeke, and has served on numerous international boards, including Philip Morris.

Mr. Udoma Udo Udoma CON, an accomplished lawyer and seasoned board administrator, brings extensive experience in advising on Nigerian investment laws and corporate restructuring.

Having served as Minister of Budget & National Planning and in various leadership roles across different sectors, his expertise is expected to contribute significantly to Seplat’s strategic growth plans.

Mr. Babs Omotowa, an international leader in the energy industry, has an impressive background in organization leadership and strategy, with years of experience at Shell and Nigeria LNG.

His leadership roles and vast experience in global business operations are anticipated to be invaluable assets for Seplat Energy’s future endeavors.

In response to the new appointments, Mr. Basil Omiyi, CON, Chairman of SEPLAT Energy, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The Board of SEPLAT Energy is pleased to welcome Mr. Christopher Okeke, Mr. Udo Udoma, and Mr. Babs Omotowa to the Board of SEPLAT Energy.
