Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has boldly declared the team’s ambition to clinch the title at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Troost-Ekong’s statement comes on the heels of Nigeria’s hard-fought 1-0 victory against the Palancas Negras of Angola, securing their spot in the semi-final of the continental tournament.

In an interview with reporters, the centre-back expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, highlighting their strong defensive capabilities coupled with their attacking prowess.

“We have been defending well like a great team and we have been attacking and creating chances as a good team,” Troost-Ekong remarked.

“I like the fighting spirit and togetherness of this team.

“We’re heading in the right direction because we want to go all the way.”
