Renowned actress Rita Dominic has shed light on her decision to wait until the age of 46 before tying the knot, emphasizing the importance of marrying for the right reasons rather than succumbing to societal pressures.
In a recent interview with Joy 99.7 FM, the 48-year-old actress disclosed that her marriage to Fidelis Anosike, her longtime friend turned husband, came after careful consideration and a desire to ensure that she was entering into matrimony for genuine reasons.
“I wanted to be sure that I was married for the right reasons and not for the reasons that stemmed with societal pressure,” Dominic shared candidly. “Even before I got married, the pressure was there for years, I just turned a deaf ear.”
Dominic emphasized her commitment to marrying the man of her dreams rather than succumbing to societal expectations, asserting, “Like I always say ‘I’ll marry the man of my dreams and not the man society dreams for me because if anything goes wrong tomorrow, I’ll be the one left to pack up the pieces and not the society.”
The actress and Anosike exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony in April 2022, followed by a white wedding held in North Yorkshire, England, in November 2022.
The ceremony was attended by close family members, friends, and colleagues of the couple.
