The Presidency has issued a call for Nigerians to prioritize the purchase of locally made products.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the President, Ajuri Ngelale, emphasized this directive during a press briefing, stressing the importance of supporting domestic industries to fortify the Nigerian currency.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, through Ngelale, appreciated the critical role of patronizing made-in-Nigeria goods across various sectors to enhance the nation’s economic resilience. This move is part of a broader strategy to foster a robust economy and boost the purchasing power of citizens.

Additionally, Ngelale highlighted several government interventions aimed at alleviating the financial burden on Nigerians. These include the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, providing non-repayable grants to over one million nano enterprises, and allocating substantial funds to support large-scale manufacturers employing thousands of Nigerians.

Furthermore, the Presidency is implementing measures to streamline government expenditure, including a temporary ban on unnecessary foreign travel from April 1, expected to save billions of naira quarterly. The objective is to redirect resources towards sectors crucial for economic growth and job creation.

Addressing concerns about the minimum wage, Ngelale affirmed ongoing discussions while emphasizing the need for sustainable currency strength to ensure the viability of any wage adjustments.
