Juventus has signed Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa for a reported £42.3 million ($53.5 million). The 26-year-old has agreed to a five-year contract with the Italian club, marking a new chapter in his career.

Luiz’s departure from Villa Park comes as the Premier League club continues to navigate financial fair-play cost-cutting measures. During his five-year stint with Aston Villa, the midfielder made 204 appearances and scored 22 goals, playing a crucial role in the team’s surprise fourth-place finish last season.

The transfer was finalized while Luiz was on international duty with Brazil at the Copa America, where he completed his medical examination. He will now join a Juventus side that finished third in Serie A last season, 24 points behind champions Inter Milan.

This signing is expected to bolster Juventus’ midfield, bringing Luiz’s skills and experience to the team as they aim to bridge the gap with the top teams in the league.
