France Football, the organizers of the prestigious Ballon d’Or awards, has announced the list of nominees for the 2024 edition of the award. This year’s list includes top footballers from across Europe’s elite leagues, with notable names such as Erling Haaland (Manchester City), Vinicius Jr (Real Madrid), and Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid).

Vinicius Jr, in particular, is considered one of the leading contenders for the coveted prize. The Brazilian forward has had an outstanding season with Real Madrid, positioning himself as a top favourite.

Notably, Lionel Messi, the current holder of the Ballon d’Or and an eight-time winner, did not make the cut this year, despite his impressive performances with Inter Miami. His absence marks a significant shift, as Messi has been a regular in the award’s nominations for over a decade.
