Veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu has expressed her disappointment with the Abia State government, stating that she will no longer offer free services to her home state due to their lack of support during her health struggles.

The 61-year-old actress, known for her iconic roles in Nollywood, made this declaration in a recent interview with Nollywood on Radio.

Nwosu, who hails from Arochukwu Local Government Area in Abia State, faced a serious health crisis in 2012 due to a kidney-related illness. Despite her dire situation, she recounted that the Abia State government did not offer any assistance.

Reflecting on this, she said, “I have personally said that there is nothing my state will call me for that I would go for free. They would pay through their nose for me to be there.”

She contrasted this with the support she received from Lagos State, where a fan of her work played a crucial role in alerting the Lagos government to her condition.

“It was the fame I had through the roles I played in series then that helped me when I needed help. The person who called the Lagos state government did it because I was her favorite actor. So when she heard I was down, she called the government to save my life because she loves me,” Nwosu explained.

Nwosu, who began her acting career in Yoruba films, gained widespread recognition for her role in the pioneering Nollywood film ‘Living in Bondage’, and remains a beloved figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
