Independent petroleum marketers have confirmed that the Dangote Petroleum Refinery plans to release up to 600 million litres of petrol monthly to stabilise supply and ease rising pump prices across the country.

The National Public Relations Officer of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Chinedu Ukadike, disclosed that the refinery finalised a distribution framework with 20 selected marketers who will serve as key distributors.

“At the meeting, Dangote announced plans to sell to only 20 selected marketers who will serve as primary distributors to other dealers. Each of them will lift a minimum of two million litres, which will translate to about 600 million litres every month,” Ukadike said.

He explained that the arrangement aims to streamline distribution, reduce the role of middlemen, and improve efficiency in the downstream sector.

IPMAN Vice President, Hammed Fashola, confirmed the development, saying the list of selected marketers would be made public soon.

Despite the refinery’s plan, petrol prices in the Federal Capital Territory and other cities have continued to rise due to limited supply and depot price adjustments.

IPMAN President, Abubakar Shettima, attributed the surge to depot owners taking advantage of a temporary halt in Dangote’s fuel loading, expressing confidence that prices would stabilise once sales resume.

In a related move, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE reduced the ex-depot price of diesel from N960 to N910 per litre, effective October 15, 2025, as part of efforts to ease costs for transporters and industrial users.
