Okay News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced an extension of the Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection exercise in Anambra State.

The decision followed appeals from citizens and stakeholders who sought more time for eligible voters to collect their cards before the November 8, 2025 governorship election.

According to a statement issued on Monday night by the Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi, the exercise, which was earlier scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, will now continue from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission has approved the extension of the ongoing collection of Permanent Voter Cards in Anambra State,” the statement read in part.

“The decision was reached following several appeals from citizens and stakeholders requesting additional time to enable eligible voters to collect their cards. The exercise, which was earlier scheduled to end on Sunday, October 26, has now been extended from Wednesday, October 29, to Sunday, November 2, 2025. It covers persons who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration exercise in the state.”

INEC urged registered voters who have not yet collected their PVCs to take advantage of the extended period and visit the designated collection centres across the 326 registration areas (wards) in the state.

Eta-Messi reiterated that the PVC collection must be done in person, emphasizing that “no collection by proxy is allowed.”

The Commission expressed appreciation to residents for their cooperation and enthusiasm ahead of the poll.

“INEC appreciates the patience, enthusiasm, and cooperation of the good people of Anambra State and urges all eligible voters to use this opportunity to collect their PVCs and get ready to participate in the forthcoming governorship election,” Eta-Messi added.

Earlier on Monday, the Commission had declared Anambra fully prepared for the November 8 poll, following a week-long readiness assessment conducted by a delegation from its headquarters in Abuja.

The delegation, led by the National Commissioner for Election Planning and Monitoring, Prof. Rhoda Gumus, included National Commissioners Sam Olumekun, Dr. Kenneth Ukeagu, and Dr. Baba Bila, who inspected facilities, logistics, and security arrangements across the state.
