The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended four top officials, including the National Legal Adviser, National Secretary, Deputy Legal Adviser, and National Organising Secretary, following a recent court ruling that stopped the party’s planned national convention.

Okay News reports that the decision was announced by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, after an emergency NWC meeting held on Saturday at the party’s Legacy House headquarters in Maitama, Abuja.

Ologunagba explained that the NWC took the step in accordance with the provisions of the PDP Constitution after reviewing the implications of the court ruling on the party’s internal processes.

He stated, “The NWC, in line with the party’s constitution, came to the following conclusion: the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); Deputy Legal Adviser, Okechukwu Osuoha; National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and National Organizing Secretary, Umaru Bature, have been suspended for one month and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee.”

The disciplinary action comes amid rising internal tension within the PDP, following the court injunction that restrained the party from holding its national convention. Party insiders say the suspension aims to maintain discipline and cohesion ahead of key political activities in the coming months.

The party also reaffirmed its commitment to respecting judicial processes and upholding internal democracy as it works toward resolving leadership disputes.

Further details are expected to be released after the PDP Disciplinary Committee concludes its review.
