Nigeria’s Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar says he will officially join the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Monday, November 24, 2025, Okay News reports.
Atiku made the announcement on Sunday during a meeting with ADC supporters and stakeholders in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.
Addressing the gathering in Hausa, he declared that a “new political movement” had emerged in the country, one he said is now rooted in the ADC.
“In Nigeria as a whole, there is a new political movement, is it not so? Today, the new movement has taken us to where? To the ADC. So, the people of Adamawa and Nigeria, our new party is ADC and our new leaders in Adamawa are here seated,” Atiku said to loud approval.
Okay News reports that Atiku, a former presidential candidate with a long political career in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), signaled that he sought permission from ADC members before making his formal entry.
“After that, on Monday, I will be officially in the ADC. Before now, I was not in; you were there before me. Will you accept me?” he asked, as supporters responded with an enthusiastic “Yes.”
He added, “May God allow us to witness Monday. It is tomorrow; we are hopeful to meet tomorrow.”
