Security operatives in Kebbi State achieved a major operational success against criminal gangs after a suspected Lakurawa bandit was neutralized and two motorcycles seized during a coordinated early morning raid in Malan Yaro village, Dandi Local Government Area. The incident occurred on 25 November 2025 at approximately 5:26 a.m., when armed men believed to be part of the Lakurawa gang launched an attack on the community.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent of Police Nafiu Abubakar Kotarkoshi, the Divisional Police Officer in Kamba quickly mobilized a joint team of police officers and local vigilante groups to confront the attackers.
“The security team pursued the attackers and engaged them in a fierce gun battle that lasted several hours. One of the bandits was neutralized, while others escaped into the forest with suspected gunshot wounds. Two motorcycles abandoned by the fleeing suspects were recovered,” the statement said.
Okay News reports that the remains of the neutralized suspect were deposited at the General Hospital in Kamba for autopsy procedures. Additional police personnel, soldiers, and vigilante units have been deployed to the area to prevent reprisals and maintain public safety.
Commissioner of Police Bello M. Sani commended the DPO Kamba and all collaborating security outfits for their “gallant performance and professionalism” in repelling the attackers. He urged all personnel to “sustain the synergy and momentum in combating criminal elements.”
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation aimed at uncovering the gang’s operational networks and preventing future attacks.
