Nigeria’s Super Eagles have officially appointed Wilfred Ndidi as their new captain, following the retirement of long-serving leaders Ahmed Musa and William Troost-Ekong.
The announcement was made through the national team’s official social media platforms, confirming that the Besiktas midfielder will now wear the armband as Nigeria prepares for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ndidi is not new to the leadership role. He has served as stand-in captain on several occasions in recent years whenever Musa or Troost-Ekong were unavailable. With both senior figures now stepping away from international duty, the responsibility has formally been handed to the experienced midfielder.
