FirstBank, West Africa’s oldest financial institution, has announced a headline sponsorship partnership with Motherland for the Motherland Festival 2025, scheduled to hold from December 15 to 20, 2025, positioning the event as a major homecoming for Nigerians in the diaspora and international visitors.

Okay News reports that the partnership is anchored on DecemberIssaVybe, FirstBank’s annual cultural initiative that promotes Nigeria as a centre for African creativity, culture, commerce, and tourism.

The festival is expected to attract thousands of visitors returning from the United Kingdom, United States, Canada, the United Arab Emirates, Europe, and across Africa.

Motherland Festival 2025 will span music, culture, innovation, travel, and investment, bringing together creators, entrepreneurs, investors, and communities to celebrate Nigeria’s heritage and economic potential. Organisers describe the festival as both a cultural celebration and an investment platform designed to reconnect global Nigerians with opportunities at home.

As part of the partnership, FirstBank will power the Motherland Welcome Experience at Lagos and Abuja international airports, providing dedicated lounges, concierge services, and diaspora support to ease arrivals and create a seamless entry experience for visitors. The bank said the initiative reflects its role as a “first point of connection” for Nigerians returning home.

Throughout the festival week, FirstBank will also support key activations, including State Pavilions, the Motherland Marketplace, and curated cultural and investment showcases spotlighting Nigeria’s innovation, enterprise, and creative industries. The week will culminate in a large-scale music festival featuring leading Nigerian artistes alongside guest performers from across Africa and the diaspora.

With more than 131 years of banking history, FirstBank said the partnership continues its long-standing mission of financial inclusion, cultural promotion, and economic empowerment, especially for Nigerians living abroad who are seeking ways to reconnect, invest, and participate in national development.

Organisers say Motherland 2025 is projected to become one of the largest cultural and economic gatherings in modern Nigerian history, reinforcing Nigeria’s image as a global destination for entertainment, creativity, and investment.

Motherland is described as a global movement focused on identity, community building, and opportunity creation, offering a platform that bridges Nigerians at home with those across the diaspora.

Through this partnership, FirstBank said it is reaffirming its commitment to nation-building, innovation, and inclusive growth by supporting initiatives that connect Nigeria to the world.
