TikTok Shop has launched digital gift cards, marking a fresh step in its effort to become a major player in global e-commerce. The new feature allows users to send store credit to friends and family, making it easier for recipients to shop from the wide range of products available on the platform.

The gift cards can be purchased in values ranging from $10 to $500 and come with customizable animated designs tailored to occasions such as birthdays, weddings, and thank-you messages. Once sent by email, the cards can be redeemed instantly by users with TikTok accounts, with the balance added directly to their in-app wallet. Recipients can also respond with a message or return the gesture by sending a gift card of their own. For now, the service is limited to customers in the United States.

TikTok says it plans to expand the experience further in 2026 by allowing users to attach video messages and introducing interactive features that enhance how gifts are received.

The move follows strong recent sales performance during major U.S. shopping events, but it comes amid uncertainty over TikTok’s long-term future in the country due to ongoing discussions around the possible sale of its U.S. operations.

Despite that backdrop, the company is pressing ahead with features designed to rival established e-commerce platforms like Amazon and eBay.
