Hon. Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya has been named the Acting State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kano State, following the removal of former chairman Hashimu Dungurawa.
The appointment was approved by the NNPP State Executive Committee during an emergency meeting at the party secretariat in Kano.
The move came after the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee submitted a formal resolution recommending Dungurawa’s sacking, citing alleged anti-party activities. The resolution, initially adopted by the Gargari Ward Executive, was reviewed and endorsed by the State EXCO, paving the way for Abiya’s elevation. Party officials stated the decision aims to restore discipline, strengthen unity, and reposition the NNPP for future political engagements in Kano State.
Speaking on his appointment, Abiya pledged to uphold justice and loyalty within the party, while remaining steadfast to the NNPP national leader, Sen. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and Kano State Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf.
