The Desert Foxes of Algeria concluded a flawless group stage campaign at the 2025-26 Africa Cup of Nations with a 3-1 victory over Equatorial Guinea.
The match, held at the Stade Moulay Hassan in Rabat on Wednesday night, saw Algeria maintain their 100% win record as they comfortably secured the top spot in Group E heading into the knockout rounds.
The North African side established dominance early in the first half with a clinical display of offensive football. Zineddine Belaid opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a well-placed header, followed quickly by a solo strike from Fares Chaibi to double the advantage. Ibrahim Maza added a third goal before the halftime whistle, effectively ending the contest before the break.
Despite the significant deficit, Equatorial Guinea managed a consolation goal early in the second half through veteran striker Emilio Nsue. While the goal provided a brief spark for the already-eliminated side, Algeria’s disciplined defense prevented any further inroads.
Equatorial Guinea exits the tournament without a win, while Algeria now prepares for a high-stakes Round of 16 encounter against DR Congo scheduled for January 6, 2026.
