Manchester United captain, Wayne Rooney, will miss Sunday’s match against Arsenal.

The England striker was taken off at half-time during last weekend’s 2-1 at Crystal Palace with a dead leg.

Manager Louis van Gaal has revealed Rooney has not recovered enough to feature against the Gunners.

United will also be without Rafael, Luke Shaw, Michael Carrick and Andreas Pereira, while Jonny Evans is doubtful.

“You cannot avoid injuries like Rooney and Shaw. Football is physical and also a bit of luck, and maybe, we are unlucky,” Van Gaal said.

“We have had, on average, 10 injuries this season and I could not pick the same line-up.”
