Danmasanin Kano, Maitama Sule, has tasked the Katsina State governor, Aminu Bello Masari to imbibe the leadership qualities of President Buhari in order to be a success.

Speaking during an inauguration lecture in Katsina yesterday, Sule expressed optimism that the country would change for the better under Buhari’s leadership.

The lecture with the theme: ‘Restoring The Lost Values of Katsina State’, was part of activities lined up for the swearing-in of Governor Masari.

He said the Katsina State governor could not afford to fail, especially as he is governing the president’s home state.

Sule challenged the Katsina State governor and indeed all other leaders to do what the president did when he first held office, in order to restore Nigeria’s lost values.

“Buhari instilled discipline, fought corruption, raised the moral fold and gave Nigeria a sense of direction during his short reign as a military leader. All leaders should do this to succeed,” he emphasised.

The eloquent elder statesman, who delivered his speech in Hausa, said Buhari’s leadership will herald the dawn of a better Nigeria and urged all to support him.

Sule said the First Republic recorded huge successes and has remained a reference point in the nation’s history because then, leaders were selfless.

“The leaders then, including Azikiwe, Balewa, Sir Ahmadu Bello and J.S Tarka, were guided by patriotism; not religious, ethnic or sectional sentiments,” Sule said.
