AFCON: Super Eagles Jersey Numbers Unveiled: Uzoho Takes Number 1, Osimhen Secures Number 9 [Full List]

By Yusuf Abubakar

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially revealed the jersey numbers for the 25-man Super Eagles squad as they gear up for the upcoming African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.

The release of the final squad list for all 24 qualified teams has generated excitement among football enthusiasts, providing a glimpse into the team’s composition and their assigned numbers.

In a notable update, Francis Uzoho, the embattled goalkeeper, has been entrusted with the prestigious number 1 jersey. Victor Osimhen assumes the iconic number 9, succeeding Odion Ighalo, who donned the jersey in the last AFCON tournament in Cameroon.

Captain Ahmed Musa retains his captaincy and the cherished number 7 shirt, while Alhassan Yusuf Abdullahi, stepping in for the injured Wilfred Ndidi, takes control of the defensive midfielder’s number 4 jersey.

Several key members of the squad maintain their jerseys from the last AFCON, including Ola Aina (2), William Paul Ekong (5), Joe Aribo (10), Kelechi Iheanacho (14), Moses Simon (15), and Kenneth Omeruo (22).

Victor Boniface, the in-form striker from Bayer Leverkusen, secures the number 24 jersey.

As the Super Eagles intensify preparations for the AFCON, slated to kick off on January 13 in Abidjan, Ivory Coast, the unveiling of the squad’s jersey numbers adds an extra layer of anticipation for fans.

The Eagles’ first match is scheduled for the following day against Equatorial Guinea.
