At 31, DJ Cuppy Sets Sights on Fourth Degree, Citing Love for Learning

By Damilola A.

Popular Nigerian disc jockey and philanthropist, Florence Otedola, widely known as DJ Cuppy, has revealed her ambitious plan to return to school for a fourth degree at the age of 31.

The announcement was made in a heartfelt video shared on her Instagram page on Monday, where she spoke about her enduring love for learning and her determination to continue her academic journey.

DJ Cuppy, who already holds three degrees, expressed her excitement and motivation for applying to a highly demanding university.

“Have the courage to break the patterns in your life that are no longer serving you. It changed me completely!” she wrote in her Instagram post.

In the video, she elaborated on her decision: “I finished a DJ gig, and I started working on an application. For something pretty important, I’ve decided to go back to school. I already have three degrees, but I love learning, and the university I’m applying to is very academically demanding, and the application is pretty rigorous.”

Despite feeling initial discouragement due to her age, DJ Cuppy reflected on her past achievements to find encouragement. “I just felt quite discouraged. I’m 31 now, and my brain doesn’t work like it needs to. I was looking at the prerequisite, and I was like, ‘how am I going to do this?’ But I realized that I’ve done it before, and I can do it again.”
