CAF shifts dates for 2019 AFCON kick-off

The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) has shifted dates of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFOCN) by six days following pleas by North African nations who will be involved in Ramadan fasting.

This development was revealed in a statement through CAF official website on Monday.

The Africa Cup of Nations (AFOCN) will now begin on 21 June with the final now set for 19 July.

Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria are among countries to have sent in the request to CAF.

This will be the first time there will be 24 teams at the tournament.

CAF had earlier announced that Egypt will be the host nation for the 2019 AFCON finals, taking over from Cameroon, okay reports.
