CAS lifts FIFA’s transfer ban on Chelsea FC

By Promise Amadi

The Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has lifted a transfer ban placed on Chelsea Football Club by the FIFA in February 2018.

Okay.ng understands that the CAS ruled on an appeal filed by Chelsea seeking lifting of the two-window transfer ban handed by FIFA.

The court also asked Chelsea to pay a fine of CHF 300,000 to FIFA.

The CAS said in a statement on Friday: “[Chelsea were] banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for one entire registration period, which the club already served during the 2019 summer registration period, [and that the club had been] ordered to pay a fine to Fifa of the amount of CHF 300,000.”

Chelsea will now be able to sign players during the January transfer window.
