Renowned comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has broken his silence on the swirling rumors suggesting he fathered a child out of wedlock.
AY recently found himself at the center of a social media storm after he shared birthday wishes for a 17-year-old boy whom he referred to as “son” on Instagram.
However, during the Easter edition of his show, AY Live, the comedic icon set the record straight, clarifying that the teenage boy is not his biological child but rather his nephew.
Addressing the audience, AY shed light on the misconceptions fueled by social media speculation.
He recounted the barrage of criticism he faced upon posting a picture of the teenager, with some hurling insults and accusations his way.
AY said: “I want to tell you guys how social media works. Sometimes, there is always a narrative that goes on and people just follow it without any form of investigation. When I posted my son on Instagram, I received all kinds of insults. They said, ‘Useless man, he don born 17-year-old for outside. This and that.’
“Ladies and gentlemen, the son that I posted on Instagram… your sister’s son is also your son. Na my younger sister born am.”
