Copa del Rey: Solari reveals why Real Madrid lost 3-0 to Barcelona

By Promise Amadi

Real Madrid suffered a shocking 3-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.

Luis Suarez scored twice in the second half either side of a Raphael Varane own goal to send the Catalans through and keep their treble hopes alive.

Real Madrid manager, Santiago Solari believes that his side did not take their chances, and that caused his players a lot of problems

Speaking after the match, Solari said: “We are sad, we wanted to play this final.

“We fell with honour, the players gave everything they could, played a serious and creative game.

“But we did not take our chances, and they did. Football is about goals, being ruthless, and taking your chances, and they did that. The idea of fair, or unfair, does not really exist in football.

“We must just congratulate the opponent, they deserve to go through,”.
