Philippe Coutinho has explained why he had to put his fingers in his ears while celebrating against Manchester United in Barcelona 3-0 victory at the Nou Camp in midweek.

The former Liverpool midfielder scored the third and final goal of the match.

The Brazilian put his fingers in his ears and closing his eyes, in response to criticism from Barca fans since his arrival from Liverpool.

After the match, Coutinho said:

We should never listen to people who will demotivate us because their speeches only deviate us from the real focus we should take.

Never in my life, I disrespected anyone, inside or out of football.

Barcelona will face Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
