DJ Cuppy Opens Up About Failed Engagement and Life Challenges

By Damilola A.

Popular Nigerian disc jockey, DJ Cuppy, has candidly addressed her failed engagement with British boxer Ryan Taylor.

The revelation came during her participation in the Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ) conference held in London.

DJ Cuppy, whose real name is Florence Otedola, confirmed her relationship with Taylor in December 2022, following a viral video suggesting a marriage proposal.

However, speculations about a split surfaced on July 15 when the couple unfollowed each other on social media.

Speaking at the WIMBIZ conference, Cuppy openly discussed various setbacks she has encountered in her life, ranging from a failed jewelry line to academic challenges at the University of Oxford.

“Now I can stand here and tell you how unpredictable my life has been despite being from a privileged background,” she shared.

Cuppy reflected on her failed ventures, stating, “Whether it is my failed jewelry line, which I did at 28 years old, or going to the University of Oxford at 29 and almost failing a class.”

Adding another layer to her journey, she disclosed the change in her relationship status, saying, “Perhaps a cherry on top, last year I got engaged and I am no longer engaged, but such is life, and I know my story is still happening, and there is more to come, and I am okay with the uncertainties.”
