DRAW: Nigeria to Play Italy, Mexico In 2017 Beach Soccer World Cup

The Nigeria beach soccer team, Sand Eagles, will play Italy and Mexico in Group B of the 2017 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup holding in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas, between 27 April and 7 May 2017.

The official draw, which took place on Tuesday at the Hotel Atlantis in Nassau, also place Sand Eagles alongside a yet-to-be-determined team from Asia.

The draw revealed that hosts Bahamas will play Switzerland in their opening match of the competition on 27 April. Group A also includes Ecuador and Senegal.

Perhaps the most intriguing quartet of teams can be found in Group D, where four-time champions Brazil were drawn alongside 2015 runners-up Tahiti, European champions Poland and a yet-to-be-determined AFC opponent.

The draw ceremony was held in the special presence of the Rt. Hon. Perry Gladstone Christie, Prime Minister Commonwealth of The Bahamas. Assisting in the draw ceremony were FIFA Legend Emerson, a former midfielder for Brazil’s national football team and the Miss Bahamas Universe 2016 Cherell Williamson.
