Falconets Defeat South Africa to Qualify for FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in France

Nigeria’s Falconets have booked a place at this year’s Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup after trashing South Africa 6-0 on Saturday and 8-0 on aggregate in the qualifiers.

The Nigerian ladies, who had spanked the South Africans 2-0 in the first leg, played the reverse fixture in Benin as though they were behind.

Gift Monday, who was red-carded in the second half, opened the scoring for the Nigerians in the 7th minute after receiving a brilliant assist from prolific forward Rasheedat Ajibade.

Ajibade then made it 2-0 in the 21st minute after displacing the South African goalie to slot home before Anam Imo finished off a rebound.

Ajibade later tapped in from close range to register her second of the evening before Monday, too, scored her second in the 39th minute to end the first half 5-0

Imo, who had registered Nigeria’s third, completed the rout in the 73rd minute.

With this win, the Falconets will be making their ninth straight appearance at the tournament.

The the biennial youth championship will run from August 5 to August 24, 2018.
