Falz and Vector join forces to slam INEC Chairman in ‘Yakubu’

Falz, the popular Nigerian rapper, has released a new single titled ‘Yakubu’ in which he takes aim at the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu.

The song, which features fellow rapper Vector, criticizes the conduct of the recent general election and accuses the INEC chairman of fraud.

Announcing the release of the song on his social media pages, Falz shared a link to the colourful video that accompanies the song.

The video features scenes from the collation centres, highlighting what the artist claims were irregularities and malpractices during the election.

In the lyrics of the song, Falz accuses Yakubu of being a fraudster and questions his commitment to the country’s democratic process.

“Mr Yakubu! E ma n se bi fraudster, you don’t want to prosper, come and collect Oscar, 300 billion te gbà lówó ìjoba, Kí le fi se ná sir ? You wayo the number,” the lyrics read.

Falz, who began his career in 2009, has become known not just for his music but also for his activism.

He has been a vocal critic of government policies and actions and has used his platform to advocate for social justice and accountability.

Falz’s new single is produced by Chillz and is available on all major streaming platforms.
