FCT Minister condemns lynching of man over alledged blasphemy

The FCT Minister, Muhammad Bello, has condemned the Saturday mob attack on a man which led to his dead.

This was contained in a statement released on Sunday by Anthony Ogunleye, a spokesman to the Minister.

Mr. Bello said no one had the right to take laws into their hands no matter the circumstance.

While encouraging residents of the FCT to co-operate with the law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious persons or movements, the Minister called on the security agencies to ensure that all those who participated in the evil act were apprehended and duely prosecuted.

He added that the FCT Administration would not tolerate any form of mob attacks or break down of law and order within the territory.

Mr. Bello assured residents of their safety, adding that they all go about their lawful affairs without fear of molestation.

Okay.ng reports that the man, who was identified as Ahmad Usman, was a member of vigilante group in Abuja. He was lynched in Lugbe, Abuja on Saturday over an alleged blasphemy against the Prophet Muhammad.
