Today marks the 19th anniversary of the passing of Afrobeat pioneer and music legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. In memorial, his daughter, Yeni posted photos of her father on instagram.
The first, which caption reads “The powers that be, beat him mercilessly. Fela they can’t touch you now o!!!! Useless people” is one of Fela in bandages after being brutalised.
The second was more sentimental reading ” Nineteen years ago our Icon father, leader and father of the Nation left the world stage. He lives in us forever and continues to guide and protect us. That is why Nigeria didn’t go to war against all predictions. Rest in peace Fela. We miss you????”
