Finance Minister Wale Edun Makes Public Appearance In Abuja Amid Health Speculations

By Oluwadara Akingbohungbe

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, was seen in Abuja on Sunday after several days of speculation about his health and reported absence from public events.

Edun appeared at Fraser Suites, Abuja, where he attended a closed-door business meeting with a Qatari delegation. The minister, who had been the subject of online discussions regarding his whereabouts, was reportedly spotted walking into the venue in the afternoon.

According to reports, Edun’s appearance came shortly after unverified claims circulated that he had travelled to the United Kingdom for medical reasons. His presence at the Abuja meeting appeared to put those rumours to rest.

Okay News reports that the Finance Minister was joined at the event by the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Jumoke Oduwole. The two cabinet members were seen leaving together after about an hour of deliberations with the visiting officials.

The meeting was said to focus on strengthening economic relations and investment discussions between Nigeria and the Qatari delegation.

Edun, who has been one of President Bola Tinubu’s key economic advisers, has maintained a low profile in recent weeks, prompting public concern over his health before this latest appearance.

Details of the discussions held during the meeting are expected to emerge later.
