Struggling Spanish side, Valencia has announced the sacking of manager, Gary Neville after less than four months in charge.

The club has also said Pako Ayestaran, who returned to the club as assistant manager in February, will manage the club in interim capacity until the end of the season.

A club statement read: “After carefully analysing the sporting situation, the Club has decided to make this change in the best interests of Valencia ahead of the end of the current season.

“The Club is grateful for Gary Neville’s work and wish him the best of luck for the future.”

In his time in charge, Neville’s Valencia team played 16 games, scored 14 goals, conceded 25 and kept no clean sheets.

The former Manchester United captain failed to win in his first nine La Liga games in charge of the team and was sent packing from the Copa del Rey and Europa League.

The club is currently stuck on 14th place on the league table, with 34 points in 30 games.
