Germany Advances to Euro 2024 Quarter-Finals with 2-0 Win Over Denmark

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Host nation Germany secured a spot in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals with a 2-0 victory over Denmark in a thrilling match at the BVB Stadion Dortmund. The win was marked by a dramatic delay due to a severe storm, which halted play for 25 minutes in the first half.

Kai Havertz scored a penalty early in the second half, followed by a strike from Jamal Musiala, to seal Germany’s win. The Danish team’s Joachim Andersen had a goal disallowed, and later conceded a penalty for handball.

Despite a strong performance from Denmark’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, Germany’s class ultimately prevailed. The match was marked by intense weather conditions, including torrential rain, hail, and lightning, which forced the teams to temporarily leave the pitch.

Germany will now face either Spain or Georgia in the quarter-finals in Stuttgart. Denmark, who failed to win a single game in the tournament, exits the competition.
