IGP Disu Appoints CSP Anietie Iniedu as New Police Force Spokesperson

ABUJA, Nigeria — Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force.

Okay News reports that Iniedu takes over the position following the tenure of Deputy Commissioner of Police Anthony Okon Placid, who announced the appointment in a statement issued on Friday from Force Headquarters in Abuja.

A native of Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, CSP Iniedu holds a degree in Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo and has undergone professional training in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, intelligence analysis, strategic communication and human rights-based policing. Before his latest appointment, he served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters, where he coordinated public complaint management and initiatives aimed at improving accountability, transparency and public confidence in the police.

Throughout his career, Iniedu has occupied several operational and administrative positions within the Nigeria Police Force, including Operations Officer at the Maisandari Division in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer at Umuahia Area Command in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.

The Inspector-General said the new police spokesman’s experience in public communication, intelligence management and operational policing would strengthen the Force Public Relations Department and support ongoing policing reforms. According to the police leadership, his appointment is expected to enhance public engagement and improve communication of the Force’s activities and security operations nationwide.
