DAMATURU, Nigeria — The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has commenced the distribution of humanitarian food baskets donated by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) to 6,000 vulnerable households across Yobe State.
The targeted intervention was launched on Thursday, June 18, 2026, following strict compliance and operational accountability frameworks established by the Saudi Arabian international donor agency.

Okay News reports that the distribution is part of a broader humanitarian package from KSrelief, which has donated a total of 24,302 comprehensive food baskets to be split directly among vulnerable populations in Yobe, Benue, Anambra, Kebbi, and Taraba states. The Director-General of NEMA, Mrs. Zubaida Umar, lauded the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, describing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a highly dependable ally that has consistently bolstered Nigeria’s emergency response capacities during complex socio-economic and climate crises.
Umar reaffirmed the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to expanding social safety nets and mitigating vulnerabilities caused by displacement and inflation. Concurrently, with the annual rainy season intensifying across northern corridors, the NEMA boss issued a strong advisory to community leaders and local government authorities within flood-prone regions to aggressively activate proactive safety measures. She emphasized that early evacuation protocols and drainage desiltation must be prioritized to protect agrarian livelihoods and prevent avoidable loss of lives before the peak of the seasonal downpours.
