Ipswich Town Promoted to Premier League for the First Time in 22 Years

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Ipswich Town have secured promotion to the Premier League for the first time since 2002, following a convincing 2-0 victory over Huddersfield Town at Portman Road.

The win, combined with other results, ensures that the Tractor Boys will return to the top flight of English football next season.

Wales international Wes Burns opened the scoring in the first half, with Omari Hutchinson doubling the lead early in the second half with a shot from the edge of the box. Ipswich Town dominated the game, with much of the play focused on attacking the Huddersfield goal.

The result also confirms Huddersfield Town’s relegation to League One, a fate that was largely expected given their position in the table. The Terriers, who were a Premier League side as recently as 2019, will play in the third tier of English football for the first time in 12 years.
