Kano Gov Yusuf Declares Unbreakable Loyalty to Kwankwaso

By Oluwadara Akingbohungbe

Okay News reports that Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has dismissed talk of any rift with his mentor, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, reaffirming that nothing can separate them.

Speaking in Madobi on Tuesday during an event to celebrate Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday, Yusuf said that political actors trying to create tension between him and the former governor were wasting their time.

“Those within and outside trying to create a quarrel between me and our leader, Engineer Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, will not succeed,” he said.
The governor pledged to continue upholding the values of the Kwankwasiyya movement, describing Kwankwaso as a “God-given leader” whose influence continues to guide Kano.

Yusuf also prayed for Kwankwaso’s long life and good health, calling him a visionary whose leadership style had transformed the state.

Recently, a movement tagged “Abba Tsaya da Kafarka” (Abba Stand on Your Feet) was said to have emerged, reportedly led by Dr Baffa Bichi and Alhaji Salisu Digol, seeking more autonomy for Yusuf’s government. Many believed the campaign hinted at internal friction within the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

However, Yusuf’s remarks appear to have put those rumours to rest, signaling continued unity in the Kwankwasiyya political family that brought the NNPP to power in Kano.
