ABUJA, Nigeria – Former Kano State Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has commended the Inspector General of Police for launching a fresh investigation into the 2019 disappearance of social media critic Abubakar Idris, widely known as Dadiyata.
Okay News reports that the police directive follows recent allegations by a former government aide who claimed that senior officers admitted to killing the missing critic. Reacting to the development on Saturday, Kwankwaso described the new police probe as a decisive and long-overdue step toward uncovering the truth behind the abduction.
The political leader urged authorities to place the accused individuals under strict surveillance to prevent any interference with the ongoing investigative process. He also called on the government to ensure that Dadiyata, if found alive, along with his family, receives adequate compensation for the trauma they have endured over the years.
Kwankwaso praised human rights lawyer Abba Hikima and the general public for their sustained advocacy in keeping the case active. Dadiyata was violently abducted from his Kaduna residence in August 2019, and the recent explosive testimonies have renewed national demands for accountability and justice.
