MANCHESTER UNITED AGREE DEAL FOR SCHWEINSTEIGER

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

Bayern Munich midfielder, Bastian Schweinsteiger, has agreed a deal to join Manchester United.

According to German publication, Bild, the 30-year-old has agreed terms on a three-year deal with the Premier League and the transfer will be completed soon.

This week, Bayern’s chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, revealed that Schweinsteiger has “flattered” by United’s interest. And it seems both clubs have agreed a fee around £15million.

The World Cup winner’s arrival will see him reunite with Louis van Gaal. The pair worked together at the Allianz Arena and the Dutch manager converted Schweinsteiger from a wide player to a central midfielder.

Van Gaal might also drop his interest in Southampton’s Morgan Schneiderlin.

Schweinsteiger had initially appeared to rule out a move, when he told Sport1: “We’ve won the Bundesliga for three consecutive times, no team ever has managed to win it four times. That’s a motivation.

“I feel good and I’m ready to play the next three years at the top level. That’s my goal.”
