Mary Earps Leaves Manchester United for Paris Saint-Germain

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Manchester United’s female goalkeeper Mary Earps has announced her departure from the club after five years of service. The England international revealed her decision on Instagram, stating that she is seeking a new challenge as the club undergoes a period of transition.

Earps, who joined United in 2019, made 125 appearances for the club and was a key player in their Women’s FA Cup Final victory last season. She also set a new league record with 14 clean sheets during the 2022/23 WSL season and finished fifth in the voting for the women’s Ballon d’Or.

The 31-year-old’s exit comes after rejecting a new deal with United, and she is reportedly close to signing with Paris Saint-Germain. Earps’ departure follows that of club captain Katie Zelem and striker Lucia Garcia, as the club prepares for a transition period.

Manchester United released a statement thanking Earps for her service and wishing her the best of luck in her future endeavors. Earps’ exit marks the end of an era for the club, as they look to rebuild and challenge for titles in the future.
