Barcelona attacker Lionel Messi has won the AS’ La Liga Player of the Season award, ahead of Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Argentine finished with 55.87% of the total votes, while Ronaldo got 35.37% and came second.
Messi scored 43 La Liga goals in the 2014/2015 campaign, to help Barca win the Primera Division title and was top of the league’s assists charts too.
However, Ronaldo scored 48 La Liga goals and 61 in all competitions – a personal record for goals in a season for the Portugal captain.
His Madrid team-mate James Rodriguez came third with 5.89% of the total votes. The Colombian midfielder scored 13 times and provided 13 assists in his debut season in Spain.
Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann and Barca’s Neymar finished fourth and fifth respectively.
