Monaco, PSG Agree €180m Deal For Mbappe

By Farouk Mohammed

Monaco’s sought-after teen sensation, Kylian Mbappe, is due to join Paris Saint-Germain after both sides agreed on a deal, French media report.

The two clubs are reported to have agreed on a deal worth €180m for the young striker who burst onto the scene in the second half of last season.

According to L’Equipe, PSG will initially sign Mbappe on loan before making the move permanent.

“Monaco and PSG on Sunday reached an agreement for a loan deal for Kylian Mbappe to the Parisian club with an option to buy for 180 million euros,” said L’Equipe, adding that Mbappe would undergo a medical by Monday morning.

The loan option is to help PSG circumnavigate Uefa’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules, after expending €200m to acquire the services of Brazilian Neymar from Barcelona.

FFP rules state that clubs are not allowed to post losses exceeding €30million in the three-year period till 2018.

Running afoul of the rules would lead to a ban from competing in the Uefa Champions League and the Europa league.
