Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho has handed the club’s board a five-man defensive shortlist for the summer transfer window.
The Portuguese looks to strengthen both centre-back and the left-back.
A source at Old Trafford told Metro UK that Mourinho is keen to bolster his defensive option and has drawn up a list of targets for the club’s transfer negotiators.
Among the players on Mourinho’s list were Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane rated for £40million; Tottenham Hotspur’s Toby Alderweireld and Barcelona centre-half, Samuel Umtiti.
Another Tottenham’s player, Danny Rose is also considered as an ideal addition to the Red Devil’s squad.
Mourinho also listed Valencian full-back Jose Gaya as he recently fell out with Luke Shaw.
The new arrivals will send Shaw, Matteo Darmian and Daley Blind looking for new clubs in the summer.
