Ibadan, Oyo State – The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected members of a notorious armed robbery syndicate and recovered stolen items valued at about ₦100 million in Ibadan.

The suspects were apprehended following weeks of intelligence-led surveillance by operatives, who tracked the group to their hideout around the Genesis Hotel area in Challenge, Ibadan. The gang is believed to specialize in hijacking containers at gunpoint and diverting valuable goods across multiple states.

Okay News reports that items recovered from the suspects include 40 air conditioners, 10 washing machines, an electric motorcycle, LED lights, furniture materials, trailer spare parts, and various consumer goods such as creams, wigs, and food items. Police estimate the total value of the exhibits at ₦100 million.

The Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended officers for their professionalism and credited members of the public for providing useful intelligence that led to the arrests. He noted that the suspects have confessed and are assisting ongoing investigations to track down other members of the network.

The police also warned hotel operators to be vigilant, stating that criminal elements often use such locations to plan operations. Management of the hotel linked to the case has been invited for questioning as investigations continue.
