NIN Verification Services Fully Restored Nationwide – NIMC

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has announced the full restoration of its National Identification Number (NIN) verification services across Nigeria following the successful completion of a technical maintenance exercise.

In a statement issued on Friday, the Commission confirmed that all previously disrupted services have now been restored, bringing relief to banks, telecom providers, and government agencies that depend on real-time NIN verification.

The downtime, which affected several institutions, caused delays in customer onboarding and identity validation processes nationwide.

“NIMC wishes to inform the general public that the recent technical maintenance has been completed and all services have been restored,” the agency stated.

NIMC encouraged Nigerians who wish to enrol for NIN or modify their data—such as name corrections or updates to personal details—to visit its official website for a list of approved enrolment centres.

It also advised citizens to make use of its self-service portal to update their records without delay.

To enhance access and convenience, the Commission recommended downloading the NIMC NameAuth App, available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, which allows users to verify and authenticate NINs securely.

NIMC expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their patience and cooperation during the period of service interruption, noting that efforts were made to restore normalcy as quickly as possible.

“We appreciate the public’s patience and understanding during the maintenance period,” the Commission said.

It reaffirmed its commitment to delivering secure and efficient identity management services across the country.
