Ogun Police Link Ijebu-Ode Suspects to Edo Kidnapping and Murder Investigation

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

ABEOKUTA — The Ogun State Police Command says two suspects arrested in Ijebu-Ode have been linked to a kidnapping and double homicide case under investigation in Edo State.

The suspects, identified as Gafaru Adamu, 25, and Muhammed Sanni, 20, were initially apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Forest Security Service during a security operation in the Atiba area of Ijebu-Ode. Authorities said further profiling by the Ogun State Anti-Kidnapping Unit uncovered their alleged connection to a criminal network being investigated over the abduction and killing of two victims in the Okada area of Edo State.

Okay News reports that investigators recovered a police camouflage uniform and three encrypted mobile devices during follow-up operations. According to the Ogun State Police Command, intelligence gathered during the investigation suggests the suspects are members of a seven-man kidnapping syndicate accused of targeting motorists and logistics vehicles along major highways while using stolen security uniforms to aid their operations.

Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi B. Babaseyi said the discoveries followed detailed intelligence analysis carried out after the suspects were handed over to the command. The findings reportedly linked them to an ongoing investigation outside Ogun State, prompting further coordination between security agencies.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended officers involved in the operation and praised the collaboration that led to the identification of the suspects. He confirmed that both men, along with exhibits recovered during the investigation, are being processed for transfer to the Edo State Police Command, where the alleged offences are being investigated.

The police urged members of the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies and reiterated their commitment to combating kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
