A pharmacist with the Port Health Services under the Federal Ministry of Health has been identified as the woman who died after collapsing while addressing her colleagues at work on Monday, January 5, 2026.

Okay News reports that the deceased, identified as Bilkisu, passed away moments after expressing gratitude to her colleagues and boss during what appeared to be a routine workplace gathering at the ministry’s premises in Abuja.

The tragic incident, which was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media, has left colleagues and friends in shock, with many expressing disbelief at the sudden nature of her passing.

The video posted by Okay News on its social media platforms shows Bilkisu addressing her colleagues before she suddenly collapsed during the event.

Following the circulation of the video, several individuals who recognized the deceased came forward to share details about her identity and the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Kasim Sulaiman Abdullahi, who identified himself as a colleague and friend of the deceased’s husband, provided a detailed account of the events surrounding Bilkisu’s death in a comment on the video shared by Okay News.

Abdullahi explained that he had been at the Federal Ministry of Health premises on the fateful day and learned of a colleague’s death around 3pm, though he was initially unaware of the victim’s identity.

“She happened to be my colleague and friend’s wife. On that fateful day, I was at the premises of the Federal Ministry of Health where she works. On inquiry, I was told that there’s nobody to attend to me as the office just lost a colleague. That was around 3pm,” he wrote.

Abdullahi said he later received a call from another colleague informing him that one of their colleagues had lost his wife and that funeral prayers would take place at 5:30pm at the colleague’s residence.

“On my return to office and having prayed Asr, I got a call from another colleague that one of our colleague lost his wife and that funeral prayers will take place at my colleague residence by 5:30pm. I quickly packed my stuff and headed to the venue of the funeral prayers,” he recounted.

According to Abdullahi, he only discovered upon arriving for the funeral prayers that the deceased was the same person who had collapsed at the ministry earlier that day.

“Reaching there, I was informed that the deceased collapsed while delivering a vote of thanks in an event in her office that day. It was then I contacted the dots of that it was the same staff that I was told its the same person I was told collapsed in the office at the Ministry,” he stated.

Following the identification of the deceased, colleagues and individuals who knew her have taken to the comment section of the viral video to express condolences and share their shock.

Asiya Sa’id, who described Bilkisu as her senior colleague, wrote: “Kasim Sulaiman Abdullahi she’s my senior colleague. May Allah’s mercy and rahma be on her soul. Pharm. Balkisu. Please say a word of prayer for her. Halinki nagari ya biki. Kullu nafsin za ikatil maut. Surely we must all go.”

Social media commentator Ruka Badaru reflected on the fragility of life following the incident, stating: “Life is nothing but a fragile illusion—here today, gone tomorrow. Pharmacist Bilkisu of the Port Health Services collapsed and passed away while addressing her colleagues.”

“Her sudden departure is a sober reminder that life is too short for hatred, greed and stealing. No wealth, position or power goes with us in the end. May Allah forgive her shortcomings, grant her eternal rest and admit her into Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen,” Badaru added.

Port Health Services operates under the Federal Ministry of Health and is responsible for protecting Nigeria’s borders from the importation and exportation of diseases through international travel and trade.

The agency works at airports, seaports, and land borders to conduct health screenings, enforce quarantine regulations, and implement disease surveillance measures to safeguard public health.

Pharmacists working within Port Health Services play crucial roles in ensuring compliance with health standards and managing pharmaceutical aspects of disease prevention at entry points.
